This week’s score card is focused on the most accurate sources for Wide Receivers in Week 8. If you need help deciding which WRs to play for Week 9 these sources may be your best option.
So you understand how we arrive at these rankings, let us first provide details on our methodology.
Each week, FantasyXPERT analyzes more than 100 popular fantasy football Web sites to determine which have provided the best advice for a variety of categories (Player Rankings, Waiver Wire and Start & Sit) as well as the various positions (QB, RB, WR, TE, K). Accuracy is determined by comparing each sources pre-game rankings/advice vs. the players actual performance for the week (there’s a bit more to it but that’s the general formula we use). We translate player statistics into fantasy points using a standard scoring model most sites use as a default. To find out more information on our scoring model as well as how we compute source accuracy, please check out our FAQ section.
Alright, with that really exciting stuff behind us, let’s focus on Week 8 results:

Interesting tidbits from Week 8
- Fantasyfootballjournal.com (a Tier 4) was 37% more accurate than the least accurate source…this 35-45% number seems to be a trend we see developing among all rankings.
- While most sources tend to rank similar WRs in rankings 1 to 8, the real difference in accuracy emerges in rankings 9+.
- The top rated Tier 1 source was Fanhouse.com which came in at #7 overall. Ahead of them were three Tier 4 and three Tier 2 sites.
Key Takeaway To Help You in Week 9
- The most accurate sources for WRs in Week 8 WERE NOT the most commonly used fantasy football Web sites. To get the extra edge (in some case more than 40% edge) you should dig deeper and use some of the lesser well-known, yet potentially more accurate sources for advice.
- For PREMIUM members ($9.95 for the season), you probably want to be looking at YTD overall and/or Historical accuracy (which includes 2008 data) as well since this gives you the broadest perspective possible. The Top 2 Most Accurate YTD sources are displayed with a fire in the Weekly Snapshot page and you can see this per position as well as per category.
